How to Get married in Denmark during Covid-19
Getting married in Denmark is one easy solution for couples who are unable to get married in their resident countries. For example, getting married in Germany is very hectic and time consuming. One has to go through a lot of paperwork and wait for months to get a marriage appointment. Whereas in Denmark, the process can be as fast as 10 days.
Denmark has fared well in the covid pandemic, especially the island Aeroe(where we live) has had very few records of covid infections in recent times.
Who can get married in Denmark?
Couples from any nationality and of any gender can get married in Denmark. Denmark is a safe haven for same sex couples looking to get married. In contrast, people having refugee or asylum seeker status cannot get married in Denmark.
What documents do you need to get married in Denmark?
The main documents that you will need for the marriage are:

How have things changed with covid?
Nothing has changed about the marriage rules and regulations. Although, entering Denmark from other places has become a bit harder. Fortunately, the Danish government keeps everything updated timely, and thus the easiest way to check things for yourself would be going on this website. Notably, Aeroe especially has had very few cases of covid(89% less than Copenhagen).
Current corona guidelines from the Aeroe Municipality:
- Wash your hand frequently or use hand sanitizer.
- Cough or sneeze in your sleeve
- Limit physical contact – no Hugs or Handshakes.
- Keep your Distance – minimum 1 Meter
- Do you have symptoms of illness? – Stay at Home.
Things to take care of when applying for the Marriage
Getting married in Denmark is more accessible than almost everywhere else in the EU. But at the same time, the marriage process can extend 2 to 3 months if you make errors in the documentation. Furthermore, there are a lot of bureaucratic procedures in place when applying for Marriage. Thus, I recommend that you take help from someone who knows the nooks and crannies of the entire process.

Marriage is a once-in-a-lifetime event – it’s memorable, and we make everything easygoing for you. Generally, it takes us as few as ten days to get couples married. I can explain everything in detail over a call, and you can block a time for it by clicking here.
I hope you have a good time in Aeroe!
Who am I? And what’s my story?
I am Alina, a German citizen – who met a stranger at the Freiburg railway station in the fall of 2014 and fell in love with him. My husband, Bharat, comes from India, and back in 2016, we had tried getting married in both Germany and India. But, unfortunately, we were quite heartbroken at the results. That’s when a friend of mine suggested the idea of marriage in Denmark. And there couldn’t have been better advice than that.
